Grants and Scholarships

Grants and scholarships are additional sources of financial aid that you do not have to pay back.

Grants are money that doesn't have to be repaid and is usually based on financial need. They are available from the federal and California State governments. To apply you need to file a FAFSA.

There are a number of federal grants that are automatically awarded to students who submit a FAFSA

Federal Grants

Pell Grant

The Federal Pell Grant program is a need-based entitlement program available to students pursuing their first undergraduate degree. To be eligible, students must be enrolled for at least three credits and demonstrate financial need. Amounts awarded can change yearly. For the 2023–24 award year (July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024), the maximum award is $7,395. The amount you get, though, will depend on

  • your financial need,
  • your cost of attendance,
  • your status as a full-time or part-time student, and
  • your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants are awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate extraordinary financial need relative to other applicants at the institution, with priority given to Pell Grant recipients. Awards are based on availability of funds and are granted at the discretion of the institution. FSEOG awards at Touro College range between $100 and $2,000 per academic year.
